...the fear outside...

No one does cynicism as well as an Indian talking about his country’s government.

RTI Activist shot dead.

Anna Hazare held in Tihar Jail.

The recent happenings have done very well to add to that abject feeling of despair.
What happens when a lone man takes a stand?

He gets eaten up. Nope, he gets chewed up like cud, n then spit out in the roadside.

Ask any street smart, chai drinking, pan chewing Indian, he will say the same.

“A man stands no chance against the system yaar.”
“Annaji is fighting a lost cause. India’s too far gone for that.”

Is our love and hope for lone heroes restricted only to Bollywood? We see the heroes not only sticking to their values and standards, but also fighting for them.

We clap, we scream, we throw coins at the screen.

Do we enjoy these films as much as we do because we are so helpless in real life? Why are we left to vicarious enjoyment?

Indians are not a hopeless race by any means. We are resilient, we land on our feet, we know all the tricks to survive.

But what is to become of India?

Why should we be given a lesson by our politicians? Are we guinea pigs in a cage, trained by electric shocks at the right time?

WHY SHOULD WE BE SHOWN REPEATEDLY THAT THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ANYONE TAKES A STAND?

I hope we will not back down now.

If the thousands of people in assembled at Azad Maidan is any indication, I would say there is still hope.

  3. Very true...It's sad that a country with a population as big as ours has been held to ransom by a few, dirty, corrupt politicians!
